arisarch

stern but fair critic

After the Greek philologist and critic Aristarchos of Samothrace (ca. 217-145 BC).
He was head of the library of Alexandria for some thirty years and became particularly famous for his critical text editions of Homer's Iliad and Odyssey. The current classification of those works originates from him.
