Andromeda

lavender heather,constellation

After the Greek mythological figure Andromeda. She was the daughter of Cepheus, king of Ethiopia, and Cassiopeia. The latter claimed to be more beautiful than the Nereids.

Poseidon, the god of the sea, was so displeased with this that he sent a sea monster to infest the land of Cepheus. The beast could only be exorcised if Andromeda was sacrificed. She was bound to a rock and awaited her cruel fate, but

was freed by Perseus, who killed the monster and took Andromeda as his bride. After her death she was given a place in the starry sky. Andromeda is a large constellation with a famous nebula.
